Georgia Gwinnett College (GGC) School of Science and Technology (SST) sponsors summer enrichment camps for students entering 7th through 10th grades.

GGC Tech Camp is a hands-on, experience-based week of exposure to the computing future and how it makes a difference in our lives. Creative thinking and problem solving will be a major focus. Students experience a five-day schedule full of demonstrations, laboratory exercises, discussion groups, and presentations on the Georgia Gwinnett College campus.

Would you like to be the director of a 3D movie? Would you like to program a robot to help you enter a Mayan temple? In this session you will use free software from CMU called Alice to allow you to make 3D animations and simple games. And, you will use LEGO NXT robots to solve a series of challenges. You will use free software from MIT called Scratch to create 2D animations and games. You will use PicoCrickets to make digital arts and crafts that react to sound, light, and touch. Would you like to make a movie using robots as the actors and as the camera? Would you like to learn to program special effects like the kind you see in the movies? In this session we will program Paralax robots that have a color camera to make our own movies and learn how to do special effects like chrormakey in the programming language Python.
