Special Awards Organization (SAO) Program  for the Intel International Science and Engineering Fair 2008 

Benefits and Fees

Participation in the Special Awards Organization (SAO) program of the Intel ISEF 2008 in Atlanta offers a unique opportunity for organizations, corporations, and educational institutions in Georgia to reward and encourage achievement by young people in science, math, and engineering.  Application for participation in the SAO program of the Intel ISEF 2008 is open to scientific, mathematical, and engineering societies; agencies of the Federal government; colleges and universities; and corporations.  Special Awards include cash awards, full tuition scholarships, internships, equipment grants, travel to research facilities, and scientific field trips.

The SAO program is jointly administered by the Georgia Host Committee of the Intel ISEF 2008 and Science Service, the national non-profit organization who has served as the administrator of the ISEF since its inception in 1950.

Special Awards are presented annually to student finalists by the SAO under judging criteria that is determined by the participating SAO as follows:

Special Awards
An affiliation fee and award package minimum is required by Science Service of all Special Awards organizations.

·     The affiliation fee must be remitted to the Georgia Host Committee by January 15, 2008. 

·     The award package minimum is the minimum cash or cash-equivalent award that the Special Awards organization must present to the student winner. 

·     Your organization may also choose to offer additional awards to the students’ teacher and/or Science and Math Departments of their schools.

 *These packages are one-year Georgia commitments for 2008.  Sponsors are encouraged to consider multi-year commitments. 

College Scholarships
In addition to the above requirements, Georgia colleges and universities are encouraged to provide full merit based tuition scholarships to Intel ISEF Finalists. 
Four years of undergraduate study should be awarded. Accompanying certificates, plaques, or recruiting materials are encouraged.
