Applications

     Interested in applying for a CMP Tutor/Mentor Position?  Follow these steps to ensure your application gets processed correctly. 

     You can find answers to the most frequently asked application questions here!

Step 1:  Download the appropriate application.  There is a separate application for anyone who has tutored or mentored with CEISMC previously.

Step 2:  Determine your federal work-study eligibility.  Work-study is a type of funding that comes from financial aid.  Many students are eligible for work-study awards and are not even aware of it!  Work-study students are hired just like any other student employee and submit timesheets biweekly for the hours they work.  

       Only Georgia Tech students with a work-study award are eligible to work in the All Kids Count Program.

To determine your work-study eligibility, please contact Stacey Collier in Financial Aid.  (Be sure to include your GT ID Number on all Correspondence.)  Tell her that you are applying for a positions with CEISMC and she will help determine your work-study eligibility.  You may contact Stacey Collier in Financial Aid at: stacey.collier@finaid.gatech.edu or 404-894-9369.

• If you have a work-study award, you will need to print out your Financial Aid Award letter from OSCAR, mark the appropriate box, and submit it with your application.

• If you are on the work-study waiting list, please note that on your application.  If you have questions about the waiting list, please speak with Stacey Collier.

• If you do not have a work-study award, mark the appropriate box and submit your application.  Please be absolutely sure you have verified your work-study status!  We do have positions open for non work-study students, if you are not eligible.

Step 3:  Decide if you have a preference for which program or age group and circle as appropriate on the application.  

       All Kids Count works with elementary, middle and high school students.    

       Pathways into STEM works with 11th and 12th grade high school students. 

Please note: All Kids Count is only open to Georgia Tech students who are eligible for Federal Work-Study.  You may also indicate "No preference". We cannot guarantee that you will be hired into the program of your choice!

Step 4:  Complete the application in its entirety. 

Step 5:  Turn your application into the receptionist's desk at CEISMC's office.  There will be a box labeled "Tutor/Mentor Applications" on or near her desk.  CEISMC is on Tech's campus in the new Technology Square area.  We're at 760 Spring Street, in Technology Square- directly across from the Georgia Tech Bookstore and next to the Hotel.  Directions and a map can be found here.  There is paid parking.  You can also take the Trolley.  Enter the building and we are the first suite on your right.

We may then contact you for interviews.  Due to the volume of applications we receive, it may not be possible for us to contact you should we decide against your application. 

Please note:  If you are offered a position, a background investigation will be performed. This is primarily because of the nature of this position (i.e. working with children in a school setting).  We reserve the right to refuse employment to any student who does not pass this background check or meet satisfactory academic standards.

Frequently Asked Questions

1. What if I am not a work-study student? Should I apply?

     Yes! CEISMC offers positions for work-study and non work-study students.  However, there are more work-study positions available to students.

2. What if I am not a U.S. Citizen?

     Unfortunately, we are unable to hire international students but we can hire Permanent Residents or Resident Aliens.

3. I am a student at a college other than Georgia Tech.  Can I apply?

     Yes! We have hired students from Clark-Atlanta, Emory, Georgia State, Morehouse and Spelman.  You will complete the same application.  Please note non Georgia Tech students are only eligible for the Pathways Program.

4. Can you guarantee that I will work at a specific school or program?

    No, we use a number of factors to determine program and school placement.

5.  Can I only work afterschool or on Saturday in the Pathways Program?

    No, mentors and tutors must work during the week if they would like to work in our afterschool program.

6.  Can I only work only on Saturday in the All Kids Count Program?

    Yes, this is an option for students and is strongly encouraged for first semester freshman.

7.  Do I need a car to work in either of the programs?

    No, but you must be willing to take public transportation (MARTA).  Only one of the schools is within walking distance.  You can reach many of the schools with 30 - 45 minutes utilizing MARTA.  Carpooling is another option but cannot be guaranteed.

8.  Where are the schools? What are they like?

    The Atlanta Public School System is an urban school district comprised of 93 traditional schools.  There are over 49,000 students enrolled in the schools.  The ethnic distribution of the school district is 86% African American, 8% Caucasian and 4% Hispanic.  You can find more information about the school district at www.atlantapublicschools.us.

    The schools we work with are relatively close to campus, anywhere between a 15 to 30 minute drive.  All are accessible by MARTA.
