1. What
if I am not a work-study student? Should I apply?
Yes! CEISMC offers positions for work-study and non
work-study students. However, there are more
work-study positions available to students.
2. What
if I am not a U.S. Citizen?
Unfortunately, we are unable to hire international
students but we can hire Permanent Residents or Resident
Aliens.
3. I am a
student at a college other than Georgia Tech. Can
I apply?
Yes! We have hired students from Clark-Atlanta, Emory,
Georgia State, Morehouse and Spelman. You will
complete the same application. Please note non
Georgia Tech students are only eligible for the Pathways
Program.
4. Can
you guarantee that I will work at a specific school or program?
No, we use a number of factors to determine program and
school placement.
5.
Can I only work afterschool or on Saturday in the
Pathways Program?
No, mentors and tutors must work during the week if they
would like to work in our afterschool program.
6.
Can I only work only on Saturday in the All Kids Count
Program?
Yes, this is an option for students and is strongly
encouraged for first semester freshman.
7.
Do I need a car to work in either of the programs?
No, but you must be willing to take public
transportation (MARTA). Only one of the schools is
within walking distance. You can reach many of the
schools with 30 - 45 minutes utilizing MARTA.
Carpooling is another option but cannot be guaranteed.
8.
Where are the schools? What are they like?
The Atlanta Public School System is an urban school
district comprised of 93 traditional schools.
There are over 49,000 students enrolled in the schools.
The ethnic distribution of the school district is 86% African
American, 8% Caucasian and 4% Hispanic. You can
find more information about the school district at www.atlantapublicschools.us.
The schools we work with are relatively close to campus,
anywhere between a 15 to 30 minute drive. All are
accessible by MARTA. |
